Each service within C.A.R.S. shall operate in a manner which assures that all individuals' rights are followed and adhered to. The agency will always emphasize the importance of dignity, respect, choices and decision making for all individuals served.

It depends on the individual and the service's) requested. Contact a C.A.R.S. representative, a Community Support Coordinator through PDD for adult services, or a Care Worker through FSCD for Children's Services.

How are the support personnel selected? Can we interview?
Qualified staff members are selected through a competitive interview process. Guardians and other interested parties are invited to be a part of the process.

What social activities are there?
There are a variety of social functions as listed under "Support Opportunities" and other activities are organized depending on individual interests.

Who do I discuss issues/concerns with?
The supervisor of the service, the Supervisor of Client Services or the Executive Director. If issues remain unre­solved, refer to the Appeal Procedure.

How often can we visit?
As frequently as you wish.

How much involvement do I have with decision making?
C.A.R.S. is a very individual/guardian driven organization regarding decision making. We encourage individuals and guardians to make all decisions, keeping in mind each individual's circumstance.

What measures can be taken regarding individual care/safety?
All support personnel are trained and qualified in a variety of safety ori­ented issues. The individual's health and safety is always a top priority throughout the agency.

How long has C.A.R.S. been providing service?
C.A.R.S. was incorporated in 1977 and commenced pro­viding services to approximately 20 individuals in 1978. Over the years, C.A.R.S. has responded to the needs of individuals by adapting and developing service options. As a result, our agency continues to grow and improve its services to individuals.

Do you provide day programs?
Yes. Our Community Options Program is a service developed based on individual needs and available funding.

How do I access services?
There are two ways to access services:

* You can contact C.A.R.S. directly for a review of our service options. If you are interested in one of our serv­ice options, we will discuss your needs and how we can best meet them. If you would like more information or details regarding this process, please call 403.342.4550.

* For Adult services, you can contact a Community Support Coordinator through Persons with Developmental Disabilities (P.D.D.), 403.340.7591, who will assist you in contact­ing a variety of agencies to discuss your options.

* For children's' services you can contact a Care Worker through Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) 403.340.5478, who will assist you in exploring service options.
