Leadership and Advisory Council
The LA Council is a self-advocacy group who believe that through personal growth and greater self-esteem, people with disabilities will take charge of their own lives and be full members of the community
The Council is made up of people that receive services from CARS. The Council is made up of a board, committee members and group participants and is supported by the Supervisor of Inclusive Supports and the Facilitator of Inclusive Supports. The LA Council plans many social activities, writes a quarterly newsletter, and organizes community events. Members of the Council provide valuable training and education to CARS employees through the Rights, Roles and Responsibilities workshop. LA Council members also provide peer education workshops which include Just Say No to Abuse, Stand Up For Your Rights, Make Choices and Be Responsible, Medication Information and Safety and Stress Busters.
