
Self Advocacy - c.a.r.s. cougars
The Cougars is a self advocacy group supported by Debbie Murray. The vision of the Cougars is that though personal growth and greater self-esteem, people with disabilities may take charge of their own lives and become full members in the community. The purpose of the Cougars is to help build the best quality of life for people with disabilities by, giving individuals the support and help they need and chances to learn and do something new.
All individuals served by CARS can become members of the Cougars. If an individual is interested in becoming an active member they can meet with the Supervisor- Self Advocacy or other members for further information and to complete new member forms.
Individuals can also become a part of the CARS Cougars Executive Board. Positions include president, vice-president, secretary, vice-secretary, treasurer, vice-treasurer, membership managers, communication, vice-communication, social planners, news and information, vice-news and information chair person, public relations and vice-public relations.
The Cougars are a very active group within the agency and throughout the community. They have been recognized for their many contributions for self-advocacy and as an agency, CARS is very proud to support and encourage this group of individuals.
